TORSION SPRING
REPLACEMENT
What are Torsion Springs?
Torsion Springs are the driving force behind your Sectional Garage Door. An average Sectional door weighs around 100kg, When the door is in the closed position, the torsion spring is under full tension and very dangerous.
How do they work?
Each time the door Opens and closes, the torsion spring winds and unwinds to counteract the weight of the door.
Lifting Cables are attached to drums to lift the door as it winds up, Just like Torsion springs, these cables are a consumable item on your garage door as they wear each time the doors rolls up and down.
Why do they break?
Springs and Cables usually last 7-10 years. Maintaining the correct tension, lubrication and cable levels are imperative to maintaining the longevity of these components.
Give us a call today to arrange to have your springs replaced if they are broken.

GARAGE DOOR
SERVICING

Why Should I Service My Door?
Your Garage door is the largest moving object in your home. If you use your garage door as the main entrance to your home, your door could cycle 4-15 times per day!
Your Garage door weighs between 80-200kg, When the door is open all the weight is on the fixings, holding it up while you stand under it. Making sure your fixings are solid and safe is critical to your family's safety.
How Often Should I Service?
Brand new doors should be serviced at the first 12 months, then every 24 months after that. Maintaining the correct spring tension & lubrication will greatly improve the longevity of your door and automatic operator. This recommendation is for doors used daily as an entrance to your home.
What Can Happen?
One of our main call outs for Sectional Garage doors that have not been serviced are loose cables causing one to pop off its drum. When this happens, the door becomes unlevel and gets stuck. This is a direct cause of not having the correct tension on the springs.
Roller Doors without the correct tension cause "Ballooning" which is the center of the door un rolling without the curtain moving causing them to become unlevel and jam.
Its very important to have assistance by a qualified service technician in both these scenarios as the doors can fall causing injury without notice.
But Doesn't the Automatic Operator Lift the door?
Most clients think the Automatic Operator actually lifts the door, This is highly incorrect. The automatic operator does the job of "Lifting" the door, however this is only an assistance to the Spring loaded mechanism. For your door to be compliant and the safety reversal system to work as intended the door must maintain its correct spring tension.
